How to get ready for sports picture day
A simple guide for athletes and parents before, during, and after picture day. Built for sports teams, dance, cheer, gymnastics, martial arts, and studio programs.
60-second prep
Know this before you leave
Arrive early
Plan to arrive 10 minutes before your assigned time so check-in, uniforms, and last-minute fixes do not feel rushed.
Group photos may be first
If team or group photos are included, they usually happen at the beginning. Latecomers may miss the group photo.
Come photo-ready
Athletes should arrive in the outfit, jersey, uniform, costume, leotard, gi, or team look requested by the program.
Bring personality
Medals, belts, bows, favorite equipment, clean shoes, or a coach-approved prop can make the portraits feel more personal.
Before picture day
A little prep keeps the whole day calm.
Follow the instructions from your program first. This guide covers the common pieces that help every sports and studio picture day run smoothly.
Check the schedule from your coach, studio, league, or program before you leave.
Have hair, uniform, costume, or gear ready before arrival; most picture days do not have a full prep area.
Bring clean shoes if they are part of the photo, especially for studio setups or indoor floors.
Pack medals, ribbons, belts, trophies, balls, sticks, gloves, bows, or other approved props if they matter to your athlete.
Avoid messy snacks, bright drinks, or last-minute outfit changes right before the photo time.
If your athlete is shy, let them know the photographer will guide them through each pose.

Picture day flow
What happens when you arrive
Check in
Our team or your program contact will direct athletes to the right spot and keep the line moving.
Group photo, when included
Team and group photos are often first because everyone needs to be present at the same time.
Individual portraits
Each athlete gets simple direction for confident, age-appropriate poses. They do not need modeling experience.
Any special looks
When time and program rules allow, we can include sibling, coach, prop, action, or personality moments.
Important group photo note
If group photos are included, they are usually photographed first while the full team or class is together. Latecomers may still be photographed individually, but they may miss the group photo.
After picture day
What parents can expect next
Some programs may offer pre-purchased early-bird pricing credits that can be applied toward online gallery purchases after photos are ready.
Your private gallery is typically delivered by email or text within 5-7 business days after picture day, and you preview the finished photos before buying.
You can choose digitals, prints, gifts, combo packages, or just one favorite image.
Digital downloads are available through the gallery after purchase.
Prints and gift products ship according to the checkout option selected in the gallery.
If you need help ordering, replying to the gallery email or contacting support is the fastest path.
See what a gallery feels like
The demo gallery shows how families preview images, choose favorites, and review print or digital options. It is a sample only, not your program's live gallery.
Open demo galleryChoose only what you love
Families can select a single favorite, digitals, prints, gifts, or bundles.
Watch for the gallery message
The link usually arrives by email or text after editing is complete.
Support is available
If checkout, downloads, or shipping questions come up, contact us directly.
Finished photos, not raw proofs
Gallery images are edited and prepared before families make purchase decisions.
Parent FAQ
Common picture day questions
What if my athlete is nervous?
That is normal. We keep the direction simple and guide each athlete through the pose. A calm arrival helps more than practicing a perfect smile.
Can siblings be photographed together?
Sometimes. It depends on the schedule and the program rules for that picture day. Ask at check-in and we will include it when the flow allows.
What happens if we are late?
We will do our best to photograph the athlete individually, but if group photos were already taken, latecomers may miss the group photo.
Do we need to order before picture day?
For most SA Picture Day events, families preview the gallery first and then choose what they love. If your program has a special ordering deadline, follow the instructions from your program.
