Parent guide
How to get ready for school picture day
A simple guide for parents before, during, and after picture day. Built for schools, daycares, preschools, class portraits, and school seniors.
60-second prep
Know this before you leave
Follow the schedule
Use the time and instructions from your school, daycare, preschool, or senior program. Arriving calm and ready helps the photo day flow.
Class photos may be first
If class or group photos are included, they often happen early. Latecomers may miss the class or group photo.
Choose photo-ready clothing
Pick an outfit that feels comfortable, fits well, and follows any school or program guidance. Pack a backup for younger children when needed.
Senior details matter
If senior portraits are included, bring any school-approved outfit changes, cap-and-gown pieces, honor cords, or personal details requested by the program.
Before picture day
A little prep keeps the whole day calm.
Follow the instructions from your school or program first. This guide covers the common pieces that help education picture day run smoothly.
Check your school, daycare, preschool, or senior portrait schedule before leaving.
Have clothing, hair, and accessories ready before arrival; most picture days do not have a full prep area.
For younger children, choose comfortable clothes and send any backup outfit or touch-up item your program allows.
Avoid messy snacks, bright drinks, or last-minute outfit changes right before the photo time.
For seniors, follow the school or program rules for outfit changes, cap-and-gown photos, props, and personal items.
If your child is shy, let them know the photographer will guide them through the picture.

Picture day flow
What happens during picture day
Check in
Students are guided by the school, daycare, or program team and directed to the portrait area.
Class or group photo, when included
Class and group photos are often first because everyone needs to be present together.
Individual portraits
Each student gets simple direction for a clean, natural portrait. Younger children are guided with patience.
Senior or special looks
If your school or program includes senior portraits, cap-and-gown images, sibling photos, or extra looks, those follow the event plan.
Important class photo note
If class or group photos are included, they are usually photographed first while the full class is together. Latecomers may still be photographed individually, but they may miss the class or group photo.
After picture day
What parents can expect next
Some programs may offer pre-purchased early-bird pricing credits that can be applied toward online gallery purchases after photos are ready.
Your private gallery is typically delivered by email or text within 5-7 business days after picture day, and you preview the finished photos before buying.
You can choose digitals, prints, gifts, packages, or just one favorite image.
Digital downloads are available through the gallery after purchase.
Prints and gift products ship according to the checkout option selected in the gallery.
If you need help ordering, replying to the gallery email or contacting support is the fastest path.
See what a gallery feels like
The demo gallery shows how families preview images, choose favorites, and review print or digital options. It is a sample only, not your school's live gallery.
Open demo galleryChoose only what you love
Families can select a single favorite, digitals, prints, gifts, or packages.
Watch for the gallery message
The link usually arrives by email or text after editing is complete.
Support is available
If checkout, downloads, or shipping questions come up, contact us directly.
Finished photos, not raw proofs
Gallery images are edited and prepared before families make purchase decisions.
Parent FAQ
Common picture day questions
What if my child is nervous?
That is normal. We keep the direction simple and patient. For younger children, a calm send-off usually helps more than practicing a perfect smile.
Can siblings be photographed together?
Sometimes. It depends on the school or daycare schedule and the rules for that picture day. Ask your program contact or check-in team.
What happens if we are late?
We will do our best to photograph the student individually, but if class or group photos were already taken, latecomers may miss the class or group photo.
Do we need to order before picture day?
For most SA Picture Day events, families preview the gallery first and then choose what they love. If your school has a special ordering deadline, follow the instructions from your school.
